Drunk
Not the past tense of drink. Being drunk is a thing I did for a few decades. As many times as I have tried to figure out my starting point down the forest path of “Ignoramus” I cannot put my finger on when alcohol took over my brain and, therefore, my life. A slow roll kind of like in a movie when the semi truck veers over the cliff with gravel kicking out and the driver frozen at the steering wheel not believing what is happening.
Drunk is just another word for fool but quitting drunkenness is a thing that deserves a reward, not celebrated with champagne. Nor beer, wine, whiskey or vodka. A dry celebration with all who were injured by the drunk in the many and subtle, and not so subtle, ways a drunk can injure people who love him or her. It ain’t cool, Henry!
My name is not Henry, just to be clear, nor do I know any Henry so sue yourself if you think you have a rare and seldom used name. Jinket is a rare and seldom used name and this is called adaptation as Henry, in my use, translates to Jinket. It is like trinket only different.
Drinking is something I do not miss. Had I had the sense to understand how life as an adult is sober I would have avoided many stupid and rotten aspects of a life built on self-defeat. After all, you take alcohol as a way to live and living stops until you get over the alcohol. Same with drugs you idiot! Better off, a hell of a lot better off, staying sober and telling the ones who want you to drink to go dig piles of shit. That’s the way I look at it because it is only drinkers that end up alcoholics. Sober people have fewer self-realized problems in life and a much better attitude about life in general. Or, you can go curl up in a ball of useless flesh and rot away. The mind goes first, in case you were wondering.
